Omg best empanadas I've had maybe ever! Staff was really pleasant and the atmosphere was really contemporary and cool. Almost a night club feel. The place was also very clean which I appreciate. I might be here once a week honestly. I got my food to go but they wrapped it in a way where empanada stayed crispy. Didn't get soggy due to steam and the plantain was soft, sweet and delicious.

I ate there this past Saturday with my family and the food was delicious!! Mojitos were great, the Puerto Rican moonshine “pitorro” was strong as hell. The appetizer with fried cheese was very tasteful. 5 stars on the food overall. It was packed so the service was a little slow but we hung in there. The atmosphere was good, more could be done to help dampen the sound because it echos like crazy and when you have a bunch of ppl in there you can be speaking loudly and still not be heard. Overall I loved it. I’m sure they’ll make this place even better once things fall into place. Great job to the staff.

Food: Fresh and phenomenal. Home-cooked with the owners right in the kitchen. It is a family-owned establishment and they either greet you, serve you or cook for you or any combination thereof. A welcomed feeling! You literally feel like you're walking into their home FILLED with love and Puerto Rican pride!! ???????? We had Garlic Chicken Mofongo with and without Chicharron. Vibrant flavors through and through. Came with a side salad to interrupt the richness. The Empanadas (Chicken and Gauva were our choices) were large, flaky, fresh and filled with deliciousness! Crust is VERY light, they use that GOOD lard! Now...the drinks are nothing to be played with! The Mojitos (Passionfruit) and Pitorro (Pineapple, Tamarind y Coconut Chai) will have you curled up sucking your thumb! They have a stage ready to bring in the best Musicians specializing in sounds from Salsa, Merengue, Jibaro, Bomba and all styles in between! The stage is set in front of a large Puerto Rican flag, which gives a FANTASTIC experience that made us feel like we were at our favorite Boriqua's casa en la Isla! Viva la Puerto Rico! ????????

I’ve been working in the PAX area for almost 3 years and just found this gastronomic treasure in Callaway, MD. I had the shrimp trifongo (green plantain, breadfruit, and yuca with a red sauce), unbelievably delicious and satisfying. The portion was just right with a very nice side salad. The ambiance made me nostalgic of my summers as a young boy in Puerto Rico. The pride of the flag, the soft tones of Salsa music and flat screens video streaming locales of the Island of Enchantment. My server was the daughter of the head chef and owner and her description of the entrees. She showed a true pride of not only the quality of the food but of the cultural transference of comforting love that good Spanish influenced tropical foods can imbue. Coming back tomorrow to pick up a couple of empanadas for my trip back to New Jersey!

How much do I love “El Coquí Restaurant”? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS!! I am a frequent flyer here. I have been a top fan since they had the FoodTruck by BJ’s in California, MD. From day one, not only are the owners and staff the most humble, friendly, and sweet people you will ever meet, but the food is out of this world. For anyone that takes the time to leave a negative review here, I can honestly tell you they don’t know what authentic Puerto Rican food truly is. We were born and raised in Puerto Rico. My husband and I have been foodies all our lives. We know good PRican food. I don’t know how they do it, but each dish, each visit, every experience is full of authentic love and stellar service. Recently, I visited again and mentioned to my husband that this restaurant cooks better than some of the authentic food that I’ve had in the actual island of Puerto Rico. When I eat there, I feel like I’m eating at my Mom’s or Titi‘s house. It’s not restaurant food. I can tell the ingredients are authentic and just right. I can go on and on. They saved our Christmas dinner the year we had Covid and were too weak to cook or do anything special (Kudos to my Sis, Tammy for hooking it up). But the next time I went to the truck they asked me how we were doing and that they had prayed for us. Who does that??? BRAVO, EL COQUI!! Thank you for being a special part of our Family! Los amamos! Pa’Lante!!! **^Leaving some photos from one of the latest times we dined there. That Chillo (Fish) was Incredible!!! The sorullitos and cheese appetizer was already being worked on. Never disappoints!! Riquísimo!! -Chelly y Joel

Fantastic restaurant. The owners and servers are very kind. The place has become so popular that we had to wait one hour for a table. But it was way worth it. The owner brought us a free desert for the wait. But mainly, she treated us like family. We are definitely coming back to enjoy the absolutely delicious food they have.
